European Highways

Having been in Europe in June 1997, I can tell you that the highways in Europe are much different than the highways in the United States. Most of the differences on the freeways are discussed on a separate page due to the fact each country in Europe have their own rules.

Differences between European motorways and Interstate highways

There are several differences. First of all, motorways in some countries are tollways. Another difference is the guide signs. Unlike the green guide signs in the United States, guide signs are blue in Europe.
